Support for the Youth in Heartbreak

Cultural transformation is the solution.

With all the data our research shows, we are affected by the quality of life and self-esteem. This calls for a cultural change in the management culture, where presence comes first and where we dare to prioritize the emotional and mental health of our employees, regardless of whether we are affected by private life. We do this best by supporting and uplifting our employees with support tools that signal that we see our employees as whole people and not as mechanical instruments that can dispense with private life crises. It is also in line with the solutions recommended by interest groups for managers – more presence.

You can take the lead and show that you prioritize your employees by strengthening and training them on mental and emotional health. With the SELFSHE app as a support tool, you not only elevate your employees as whole people, but you break the taboo and create respect at the eye level. For us, SELFSHE is a matter of the heart – and regarding well-being in the labor market, SELFSHE is social responsibility, social responsibility, and good business management, so it works.

A youth with record high stress levels and low self-esteem.

SELFSHE is an app that tackles one of the biggest challenges we face. A young person with historically low self-esteem and historically high stress levels. A youth culture that affects every young person under the age of 40 who finds it difficult to navigate the rapid digital development, culture of perfection, private relationships, and demands of the surrounding society. There is nothing to say about that. Our younger generations face a reality where private life, work life, and online life have merged.

Why the heartbreak?

While magazines, the Danish and foreign press are flooded with articles about challenges associated with bereavement and dating, we have met reactions from the business community who ask how grief on top of a breakup with a boyfriend or failed dating attempts is a relevant issue. A look through social media will reveal a tsunami of content from young people who only put relationships and dating on the agenda. For business, it is particularly important to have your finger on the pulse, to follow what moves young people under the age of 40 – especially when Denmark is the country in the EU that uses social media the most. We are heavy consumers of social media and digital apps and tools. In addition, we also have the highest divorce rate in Europe, and right now we have number of singles, which is why we actively use dating apps.

It goes without saying that our self-esteem, self-confidence, self-image and quality of life are undeniably linked to our need to be loved, seen and heard – and if that need is torn apart, we end up as half-human. Especially in the workplace.

Workshops and tools with new performance requirements are a misstep that backfires.

Our biggest muscle is our many years of work with citizens in life crises, whether it is the director, middle manager, youth worker, or intern. We have experience in moving people from crisis and back to their cores. Furthermore, again and again, we see the business community finding and acquiring solutions that require more time, profit, and energy from their employees. Profits that they do not already have, and time away from their loved ones. Workshops, courses, and digital tools that measure and weigh people’s performance and potential are popular, but they backfire repeatedly. If your employees’ privacy is affected, which is the case most of the time, whether you as a manager determine about it or not, then there is only one solution: to support them with tools to take care of themselves, to handle the personal crisis, so that they can navigate through the grief while also attending to work.

Record high sick leave!

Right now, we have a record number of sick leave due to stress and grief. As a society, we have a responsibility for that.

SELFSHE is therefore a boost to our society, it is a matter of the heart whose vision is to lift young and adult women and give them the most effective and in-depth program that aims daily to lift their self-esteem, self-confidence, and quality of life. Our app breaks with inequality and gives all women equal access to self-help, which is usually very expensive.

Corporate responsibility in the future.

As a company manager, in the coming years, the business community must prepare an annual report to comply with the Corporate Sustainability Directive (CSRD). It calls for responsible corporate behavior that has many social goals in mind. From your recruitment strategies, employment conditions, work culture, and management style, it is now a sustainable matter of principle. Your sustainability is measured and weighed on employee satisfaction, mental and emotional health, well-being, and inclusion, from the intern on the floor to the upper echelons.
